We just signed the lease for our new location at 1014 Madison Street.
We hope to open the shop in the Fall.

We've temporarily closed to spend some time regrouping after John's cancer
treatment. Although it was quite a strain emotionally, we are happy to
report he is in full remission, just needs a little time to grow his hair
back. I think this will be a good time to regroup and refocus the bakery
as well.

We celebrated our third year anniversary by baking tons of apple pie from
the bounty of apples that were on our tree this year. We had a party over
the weekend to wish my husband well as he starts chemotherapy on Monday
the 9th. He'll be down for the count for about 9 weeks, but will be sure
to emerge free of testicular cancer just in time for his 32nd birthday.

We moved our kitchen to another location in West Seattle. We're only baking
a few days a week and have temporarily stopped doing the farmer's markets
until we get settled.

We've been selling our goodies at the Farmer's Markets in West Seattle
and the University District. We are now on the waiting list for the U.
District (they have to make room for farmers!). It's been a lot of fun
and we've been getting a lot of requests for us to open up a shop. Actually,
we're actively looking for a shop space so tell us where
you want it to be!

Our SweetFest event, which occurred on February 14, 2005 and 2006, was
enjoyed by all. However, we have since learned of another event - upcoming
in the fall of 2006 - also called SweetFest. This upcoming event will
benefit the Moyer Foundation, and you can find out more at their website
www.sweetfest.com.
We have been asked by that event's producers to stop using the term SweetFest,
and so in the interests of community, we have stopped using the term.
We may repeat our Valentine's Day event under a different name. We apologize
for any confusion.
SweetFest 2006 was a great success and we were thrilled with all the
happy faces of our guests as they left our second annual event. In honor
of the most popular gift for Valentine's day, the desserts were infused

We've teamed up with the Lifelong Aids Alliance to be their partner in
pie. We're baking pies for their first annual Slice for Life pie sale
this Thanksgiving. Learn

We're famous! We got a very cool write-up in The Stranger, our local super
hip weekly newspaper. We are so pleased, not just because it is such a
well written article, but also because the author, Sara Dickerman, said

We donated a giant Chocolate Mousse Mountain to an auction to benefit
the Seattle Mens
and Seattle Women's chorus. We don't know how much it sold for, but
we do know the person who won it got a whole lotta chocolate.

We were invited to make desserts for KEXP
for their monthly staff birthday celebrations. They've been great in letting
us experiment on them with new recipes.

Herban Feast's
Sweet and Savory Pantry opens. We share kitchen space with Herban Feast
Catering and they just opened their fancy schmancy Sweet and Savory Pantry
which has great grab and go meals as well as desserts from none other
than us!

We staged our first annual Valentine's day all you can eat dessert event
and called it SweetFest. Guests were served 8 different
decadent desserts in the beautifully decked out Zeitgeist
coffee house. It was our first time doing something like this and we can't
wait to do it again next year.

We've completed our new dessert, the Chocolate Mousse
Mountain which is constructed from dark chocolate cake and rich chocolate
mousse and enrobed in bittersweet chocolate ganache. So far, they're really
fun to make and people are buying them up like crazy.

We started making Brioche, my dad's favorite type of bread. We roll them
up like cinnamon buns and fill them with gooey cinnamon sugar or raspberry
jam and raspberries. We also tried a chocolate truffle filling which everybody
really liked, but it didn't sell too well so it's out.

We experimented with different granola recipes and then found a lowfat
and low sugar one that's sweetened with banana and date puree. We've added
a little more vanilla and some dates, toasted almonds and raisins. We
love it, and it's nice having something around the kitchen that's good
for you and tastes great.

We moved into a new kitchen space and don't share with so many people
anymore. We've started collecting equipment and now have our first giant
Hobart Mixer. We love our new kitchen space.
5/31-11/30 2004
We had a stand at the Farmer's Market at the U. District and in West Seattle.
Even though we didn't make too much money, we had a lot of fun meeting
the people who love our products, made some new friends, and plus traded
anything we didn't sell for the best produce we've ever had.

We made up 6 boxes of samples and went out into the world (well, mostly
West Seattle) and tried to sell them. 5 out of 6 clients placed orders
within that first week so Stephanie quit her job and Sugar was born.
